The Animal Science Seminar requires extensive use of library resources. This guide will help you identify the most important databases and services for locating information on your topic.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Email Brad if you need help at any point during your research. Don't waste time floundering; I can meet with you or advise by e-mail.

Ask for help at the Research Help Desk, or by phone (715-425-3343), or email (refdesk@uwrf.edu).

Save time, use the references! When you find a scholarly resource (for example, a research-based article from a scholarly journal), remember to look carefully at its list of references (also known as "works cited" or "bibliography"). The author(s) who conducted the research and wrote the article will lead you to other useful resources. In effect they have done much of the hard work for you when it comes to searching through the literature.

If you find a citation to a journal article, track it down by using the Citation Linker under the "Finding a Specific Article" tab at the top of this page. 

To obtain a book or article that is not available through the Chalmer Davee Library, place a request via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). In most cases, there is no charge for borrowed items or for electronic articles. ILL books can be picked up and returned at the Circulation Desk.
