The Chalmer Davee Library at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has two primary means of requesting books from other libraries. The first is called UW Libraries Request. This type of request is used for obtaining books or other library resources that are located within the UW system’s libraries. The second is called Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and is used to obtain books or resources that are not found within the UW system's libraries. This short guide will show you how to request books using the UW Libraries Request method.
You must be signed-in to place a request.
Search@UW automatically looks for books, journal articles, & other materials at our library, and all the UW campuses.
Getting items from other UW libraries is much faster than standard interlibrary loan; it usually takes about two business days to a week. Note: during busy times, such as midterms and finals, it may take longer. When you find an item that you want in Search@UW that we don’t have, be sure you’re signed in and click "Request a Copy" or "UW Request."
Physical items will be sent to the Chalmer Davee Library, and you will get an email to your UWRF email account when the item is ready, telling you to pick up the item at the front desk of the library. When you are done with the item/when it is due, return the item to the Chalmer Davee Library and we will send it back to the lending library for you. For electronic items, a message will be sent to your UWRF email account with instructions on how to access the item. You must access the item within 30 days of the notification or you will have to re-request the item. We recommend you download/print the item as soon as possible to avoid this issue.
If the item is not in the University of Wisconsin system, the Interlibrary Loan Department may be able to request the item for you. Please contact them for assistance.
